A section of Nanyuki residents have taken to the streets to thank President Uhuru Kenyatta shortly after the sacking of Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri.
The residents had printed placards displaying their gratitude towards President Kenyatta’s decision to sack Kiunjuri.
This comes against a backdrop of pundits earlier remarking that CS Kiunjuri would be a likely successor of the President.
In the heat of their deteriorating relationship, Kiunjuri openly threw his allegiance towards Deputy President Dr William Ruto, who has lately been at loggerheads with the President.
In his latest cabinet reshuffle, President Kenyatta threw Kiunjuri under the bus after years of strained working relationship the embattled state officer.
Kiunjuri irked the country’s top leadership after he mobilised some 57 MPs with Mt Kenya roots to a retreat in Embu where they resolved to oppose changes to the constitution.
In the meeting, Kiunjuri declared war on President Kenyatta’s pet project- the BBI that saw him unite with his erstwhile political nemesis, Raila Odinga.
