‘If You Arrested Me For Supporting Ruto, Take Me Back’- Moses Kuria.

An embattled Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria is defiant that he will not stop supporting Deputy President William Ruto for the presidency.

Speaking shortly after being released from Kilimani Police station, where he spent a day in, the MP blamed his woes on his allegiance to the DP.

” I have been released on another bail of Ksh20,000 so, they have not yet obeyed the court orders. I belong to the wing where I am in the alliance with His Excellency Deputy President William Ruto.

And I am not ashamed of that. If that is why you arrested me take me back now,” said Kuria.

The MP claimed that the lady he was accused of assaulting had been bribed and coached to act against him.

Joyce Wanja was reportedly assaulted by Kuria during a political talk show at Inooro TV, a vernacular TV station owned by Royal Media Services,  in December after she allegedly differed with Kuria during the debate.

Video footage of Wanja appealing for justice went viral on Friday prompting the arrest of the MP who was taken to Kilimani Police Station.

The arrest sparked uproar from leaders allied to DP William Ruto who accused the government of intimidating those opposed to BBI.

A push and pull ensued on Friday night after the Kilimani Police boss failed to honour a court order directing the release of Kuria on Ksh50,000 cash bail.

The leaders were teargassed while holding a press conference while some claimed they were assaulted by the police officers.

The government came under czar criticism for failing to honour the court order with former chief justice Willy Mutunga slamming the government for stooping too low by failing to consider the court order issued in favour of Lawyer Miguna Miguna and Kuria.

Prior to his arrest, Kuria had reportedly gone on hunger strike after he allegedly claimed that he couldn’t trust the meal brought to him by the officers.

Kuria is expected in court on Monday where he will most likely face assault charges.
