Barcelona Identify Former Midfielder As The Man To Replace Ernesto Valverde

Spanish La Liga Champions Barcelona has identified former midfielder Xavi Hernandez as the man to replace Ernesto Valverde as the head coach.

The former Spanish midfielder is the current Al Sadd coach and spent his entire professional European career at the Catalan club. Barcelona is said t be growing increasingly frustrated with Valveed who was knocked out of the Spanish Super Cup by Atletico Madrid on Thursday.

Xavi has already held a meeting with the clubs Sporting Director Eric Abidal and it is understood that Barcelona has tabled two and a half year contract.

The club would like him to take over immediately but Xavi wants to start the job after this season. Lionel Messi is said to be for the move to bring his former teammate back at the club.

Xavi grew up in the famed La Masia Barcelona academy and was the heartbeat to the all-conquering Barcelona team that won the Spanish treble with Pep Guardiola ten years ago. He was at it again and won the treble under Luis Enrique before the retired in 2015.

The Catalans sit at the top of the La Liga table but performances have been far from convincing in the past few weeks. Besides, Valverrd e has been unable to lead the club to European glory, something that the whole fanbase and club craves.
