Far from the fact that celebrities are known to have a lavish lifestyle, most of them have a story before the fame and success. Some of the richest celebrities we know started out with basic hustles and worked hard to get where they are although we at times assume that they were all born in privileged families.
When we think of South African businesswoman Zari Hassan, some of us imagine that she had it all easy. We see a sassy woman who was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. However, the mother of 5 has a story of hardship and struggle before fame.
In a long social media post, Zari revealed that she was once a housemaid years ago when she needed to raise money to pay up for accommodation in campus.
Zari who was at that time studying in the UK says that she had to work more than one job to finance her studies. According to the businesswoman, she never knew where she would end up in life but she kept pressing on.
She also mentioned that she was forced to stay with an aunt in the UK so that she could keep away from seeing her mom struggle after her dad left them. To make it worse, her aunt used to mistreat her.
“My dad had left, my mom was doing tailor jobs day and night I couldn’t stand seeing her struggle. I couldn’t stand her pain. I was living with my aunt in the UK who treated me like a stepchild.” She wrote
Zari also explained that she decided to share her experience to encourage others. She also advised that people should purpose to be consistent no matter what they are caught up in.
She further gave the reason why she holds on to such memories and experiences stating that it keeps her grounded.
Despite the struggle, Zari is among celebrities who lead a posh lifestyle and has invested in high-end businesses. As a matter of fact, she owns a college BCC in South Africa whose net worth is at least $20m, properties in Uganda including a hotel she is building $4m, properties in SA $4m and so much more.
Apart from Zari, other celebrities who were once house helps before fame include Akothee, Nyota Ndogo, Gloria Muliro, and others.
