Manchester United captain Ashley Young has agreed on a deal to sign for Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan. It is expected that the versatile former Aston Villa man will join the club when his contract with the Red Devils in the summer.
Ashley Young could still join up with Antoni Conte’s side in January but Manchester United is yet to agree on that with Inter Milan. Young has played more than 200 games for Manchester United but was left out of the Carabao Cup loss to Manchester City on Tuesday.
Manchester United is not prepared to lose the player this window especially after it emerged that first choice center-back Harry Maguire will be ut for a lengthy period with a torn hip muscle.
Asked on Ashley Young’s future, manager Ole Gunnar said after the Carabao Cup match that “it was not the right time” to discuss Young’s future, adding: “We can’t weaken ourselves; we need to strengthen ourselves if any movement is going to happen.”
Manchester United is already without two influential first-team players in midfielder Paul Pogba who underwent an ankle surgery while Scott Mctominay is also out with a hamstring strain.
Ivory Coast defender Eric Baily has barely featured this season which suggests that the club could be in the hunt for new players in the January transfer window.
