Distance Miguna Travelled to Board Kenyan Flight, only to be Shamefully Kicked Out of Plane

There is no reprieve in sight for embattled lawyer Miguna Miguna, whose 2020 attempts to return to his homeland have so far shamefully blown up in his face.

The politician, who is an ardent critic of the ruling government and the opposition in equal measure, had his first journey back to Kenya, after he was deported in March 2018, cut short at Frankfurt Airport in Germany after he was barred from boarding his Lufthansa flight home.

This, according to the airline, was owing to an existing red alert against Miguna.

Dejected, but maintaining his enthusiasm, Miguna secretly devised an alternative homecoming plan, opting to covertly board another flight to Kenya in France.

To get to Paris-Charles De Gaulle from Germany, Miguna had several travel options, including boarding a plane, driving, or boarding a train.

This was to cover approximately 550 kilometres between Frankfurt and Paris, where he had secured a seat on an Air France flight destined for Kenya.

A flight from Frankfurt to Paris takes up to 3 hours on a connecting plan, and up to one hour and fifteen minutes for a direct flight.

A train between the two cities takes up to five hours to cover the half a mile distance while driving via different highways can take up to six hours.

A spot check by Opera News on the websites of airlines providing flights between the two airports revealed that the cost of flights ranges between Ksh. 7,000 and Ksh. 10,000.

Despite this financial and time investment on Miguna’s part, he was shamefully ejected from the Air France flight to Kenya minutes before take-off, with the airline citing compliance reasons.

According to the former Nairobi governor aspirant, the airline staff rudely handled him and he was not refunded of his Kenya flight ticket.
