The rains are back. In Kenya that only means one thing; disaster! Some of the streets of Nairobi already look like swamps after a few hours of rain.
This is one of the first challenges that await Nairobi Deputy Governor nominee Anne Kananu Mwenda. That is if her nomination is approved by the County Assembly.
Mwenda is currently the Chief Officer in the Disaster Management Department at City Hall and we hope she has one or two ideas on how to deal with floods.
The other positive news is the homecoming of self-proclaimed NRM General Miguna Miguna. The General will land at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at exactly 9:25 PM tonight. Unlike the chaos and drama that ensued during his last visit to Kenya, the government has assured Miguna that he will be allowed to come home.

Why Sonko Deputy Decision is Shaky
Is Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko allowed to name a deputy? That is the million-dollar question after Sonko nominated Ann Kananu to fill the vacant position left by Polycarp Igathe in 2018.
According to the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji, Sonko is not allowed to make any decisions pertaining to Nairobi County because he was barred from office.
However, Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior backed Mr Sonko, saying he could discharge his duties as long as he doesn’t step in his office as directed by the court.
