Man United, Chelsea Interested in Uruguayan Striker

English sides Manchester United and Chelsea are keen on signing Paris Saint-Germain striker Edison Cavani who is set to quit the French side this January.

Cavani has fallen down the pecking order in Paris since the arrival of Mauro Icardi in the summer featuring mainly as a sub for the French league defending champions.

Last week, reports indicated that the Uruguayan had reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid over a switch to the Spanish capital but it later emerged that a deal was far from being sealed.

United and Chelsea are both keen on beefing up their attacks this January and have both been linked with a move for the former Napoli man. At 32, the forward will not cost much and it is for that reason that the two clubs are keen on roping him in.

Ole Gunnar Solskjer has young strikers in Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood. Cavani signing will make sense as he will be able to guide the youngsters as they mature into good forwards who are viewed as the future of the club.

Chelsea on the other hand equally have a young forward in Tammy Abraham and coach Frank Lampard wants to bring him a mentor in Cavani.
