‘Kikuyus Must Vote For Ruto Come 2022 or Else…’- Kirinyaga Woman Rep

Kirinyaga Women Representative Purity Wangui Ngirici in video footage that emerged on Tuesday warned the Mt Kenya region against supporting someone else for the presidency other than Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking during a function that aimed at supporting the needy students at her county, Ngirici cautioned the region against embracing what she termed as ‘traitors tag’.

The MP insisted that the region ought to stand behind the DP Ruto’s presidential bid as they had earlier promised him.

“I want to tell you the people of Mt Kenya, that the day you will turn around from what you promised and said, no other tribe in this country will sit down with us.

“They will not accept because we would have cheated others and they will say Mt Kenya will never ever honour their promise. I promise that I will be the first one to honour the promise we made,” said Ngirici.

Also, the Woman Rep defended Kandara MP Alice Wahome against the criticism she received after she said that President Uhuru Kenyatta was a threat to democracy and freedom of expression.

Ngirici told off leaders serving their last term and intending to extend their term of service saying the constitution is clear that they should go home.

The MP cautioned Kenyans against changing the constitution to maintain leaders serving their last term and added that the move was not fair to the democracy of the nation.

“Let us respect the constitution that we promulgated in 2010. We said that the president will rule for ten years, governors for ten years and even the deputy president should serve for ten years.

“I have heard that we want to change the constitution and allow those who are in power and serving their last term to run again for power. Is that fair? let us not be hypocrites. Let us be honest that if you have served for ten years, go home,” she added.

Ngirici becomes the second MP from the Mt Kenya region to publicly oppose reports indicating that President Uhuru should go for the Prime Minister’s post.

On January 1st MP Wahome accused the president of failing to clear the air on the reports and said that his silence had turned him a threat to the country’s democracy and economy.

The MP was heavily criticised for disrespecting the President and was urged to apologise for her remarks.

However, Wahome swore she won’t apologise since she has the right to express her mind freely.
