Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater is set to make a loan move to Aston Villa in the next few hours. The midfielder was previously on loan to fellow English Premier League side Burley but the deal was cut short due to a lack of first-team football at Turf Moor.
The English midfielder is hugely experienced and together with Ngolo Kante led Leicester City to a first league title in 2016. However, after both sealing moves to the London club, Drinkwater has not been a success while Ngolo Kante thrived for the Blues.
He was sent on loan at the beginning of this season and has barely featured for Burnley. His move is expected to be completed before Villa host the defending champions Manchester City on Sunday.
Meanwhile, with the transfer ban lifted, Chelsea is looking to add a few players to their young squad and the club is circling around Ivory Coast and Crystal Palace winger Wilfred Zaha.
The Blues, however, face stiff competition from German giants Bayern Munich who are also interested in the winger. Zaha is however on a long term contract at Palace which could make things difficult for the buying club.
Chelsea is fourth in the English Premier League table and will host Burnley on Saturday in their next league match.
