Van Persie Explains Why Man United Lost to Arsenal

Former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie believes lack of service to Man United forwards led to the 2-0 to Arsenal on Wednesday night at the Emirates.

Ole Gunnar’s men suffered a setback in the hands of a revamped Arsenal and will now have to go back to the drawing board and re-plan for forthcoming assignments.

During the match, United forwards Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Daniel James who have been devastating form in recent weeks barely threatened the Gunners as they were kept at bay for the better part of the match.

Van Persie now believes lack of service from midfield played a huge role in the defeat. Fred Nemanja Matic and Jesse Lingard were tasked with running the show in the middle of the park.

“I do believe that the reason why Manchester United was so flat is that the midfielders were not giving those final balls,” RVP said.

“Even if it goes wrong it doesn’t matter because then you play in their half. No one was giving those balls. Rashford I have him down for [making] 15 great runs, Martial similar. He didn’t receive one ball, not even once. Partly quality, the door was open but the pass didn’t come. You need a bit of fear for your coach, but first, you need a game plan,” he added.

United will now shift their focus to Saturday FA Cup clash against Wolves.
