Arsenal Transfers: Gunners Linked With French Winger And Bayern Munich Defender

Arsenal is interested in signing Atletico Madrid winger Thomas Lemar in the January transfer window. The winger has not enjoyed a positive spell at the club since making a big-money move from AS Monaco in 2018.

It has been reported that the Spanish club could be open to a loan deal in January with an obligation to buy in the summer. Arsenal could, however, face stiff competition from their North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur who are also eyeing the Frenchman.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta promised that he will be active in the January transfer window but he is not hopeful of completing many deals.

“We’re going to try to be in the market to see options that can strengthen the team. That’s for sure and that’s our obligation, and we’re going to be working on that. My obligation is to give my opinion on the things we can improve,” Arteta said.

With Arsenal confirming Calum Chambers is out for up to nine months with a knee injury, a defender is a top priority in January. It has emerged that Bayern Munich and Germany center-back Jerome Boateng is available and the Gunners could be interested.

Jerome is no stranger to the Premier League having featured for Manchester City before he made his move to Bayern Munich. He is an experienced defender who has won the Bundesliga titles on multiple occasions and the World Cup with Germany in 2014.
