Chelsea Boss Lampard Clears the Air on Wilfried Zaha Transfer Links

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Crystal Palace talisman Wilfried Zaha in January but Frank Lampard has claimed the forward is ‘not our plans’.

The Blues are in need of some attacking recruits in January and Zaha has been repeatedly mooted as a potential signing.

The Ivory Coast international has made no secret of his desire to play for a club in the Champions League and Chelsea certainly fit the bill in that regard.

However, Lampard appears to have poured cold water on the speculation when asked about the player following his side’s 1-1 draw with Brighton.

“I wouldn’t talk about Zaha,” he said. “It’s not something I’ve considered. I won’t talk about him because he’s not our plans.

“If we have to do business we will do it behind closed doors aside to announcing who I want to bring.”

However, the failure to beat Brighton has led to fans calling on the club to make signings and Lampard has acknowledged the club need to improve.

“We’ve got work to do. Christmas has been a small showing of our season. We should have had the mindset to kill it.

“It showed the good and bad of us. We must remain humble and work hard. There’s a lot of work to do.

“You have to deal with it in games, it’s part of the process. You can accuse for a lack of fight and urgency but today was a lack of quality on the ball.

“We just decided to not keep doing the simple things, not taking opportunities to score,” he added.
