Almost everyone suffers a bit of sadness from time to time but telling the difference between this and depression can be somewhat difficult.

The big question is how do you know when your friend or family has crossed into a mental health issue?

One Kenyan man Abiud Wangu Maina ended his life hours after sharing a long post claiming how 2019 had been difficult and giving his final goodbyes.

Last week was the best week for me I was able to stand before my workmate of 11 years I was able to speak my heart but one thing I learned no one notice my tired eyes, that’s how bad depression is no one can notice depressed people act ok , but I thank God I got the opportunity to say goodbye,” read part of his Facebook post.

As always, his friends who were fellow Kenyans flocked in his page sending their condolences yet only one friend reached out to him.

Depression is one of the deadliest illnesses around today; it kills an overwhelming number of people yearly, yet it’s one of the most overlooked sicknesses.

Depression has caused many lives to be cut short; most suicide cases are as a result of the dreaded illness.

What’s worse is that it’s difficult to detect by people (except doctors, of course) since it doesn’t come with immediately damaging symptoms or signs.

Below are some photos of Abiud:

Friends sent in their message of condolence filled with regret and wishing they had done more while he was still alive.

His only friend @MC Georgez who stood by him, remained grateful highlighting he played his role and did the best he could.
