“President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta last evening attended Christmas eve mass at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Nyali, Mombasa County. The President, who was accompanied by the First Family, wished Kenyans a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year,’ reads a post from State House.

This is however not the first time the President Kenyatta is joining Christian faithfuls in Mombasa for Christmas.

Last year, Uhuru joined Christian faithful for the Nativity of the Lord mass at Holy Ghost Cathedral in Mombasa County.

During the mass, the Head of State passed a message of forgiveness and compassion, urging Kenyans to love one another and spread the Christmas spirit by sharing with the less fortunate.

The President was again flanked by his wife Margaret Kenyatta during the last year’s event.

In 2015 and 2016, President Kenyatta also celebrated his Christmas in Mombasa.
