Manchester City Survive Vardy Scare To Beat Leicester City

Manchester City came from a goal down to beat Leicester City 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

The defending Champions went behind in the 22nd minute. Jamie Vardy beat Fernandinho with the kind of run that typifies the English striker. He still had a lot to do and with Ederson off closing hm down, Vardy applied the deftest of touches to dink the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper for the opener.

Riyad Mahrez was having a lot of joy on the right and the winger equalized just 8 minutes later against the team he won the league three years ago.

Raheem Sterling was then tripped just minutes to the end of the first half and Mike Dean pointed to the penalty spot. Germany midfielder Iker Gundogan stepped up and put Pep Guardiola’s side ahead.

Manchester City totally dominated the second half and should have scored on numerous occasions. Kevin De Bruyne burst into the box with 20 minutes left to play and the midfielder set up Gabriele Jesus who converted at the far post.

Sergio Aguero made his comeback from injury with a few minutes left to play. Manchester City is now on 38 points, 11 behind leaders Liverpool with 49 points.

Next up for Manchester City is a trip to face Wolves while Leicester City host Liverpool at the King Power Stadium.
