Chilling Video of Kids Playing Dangerously on Rooftop Shocks Kenyans

A video has emerged online showing kids playing dangerously on the rooftop of a high-rise building.

It is not clear who and where the video was shot at but according to blogger Cyprian Nyakundi, who shared the chilling video on his Facebook page, it was at Sunrise Estate in Imara Daima.

However, a Twitter user, Kipchumba Rono, claimed that the incident happened at Greatwall Gardens in Athi River.

“This is Greatwall Gardens athi river. They went through the staircase to rooftop tank. They have had to step on something to get to the roof as the wall is a bit high. However the door to that area is always open, on all the buildings for service employees to check water level,” he tweeted.

The undated video has elicited angry reactions from shocked with others bashing the camera person for seemingly taking no action. Here are some of the comments:

“Parenting, let’s stop burying our heads in the sand. What is happening here speaks volumes about parenting. These days even in schools teachers have to parent the parent and the child,” wrote Simon Aura.

“The builders and the owners of the building are to blame for not putting enough safety measures to prevent easy access to the rooftop especially for children,” Sammy Kaigua.

“All the playgrounds have been grabbed to make the same highrises, kids have nowhere to play. What do ‘you’ expect them to do during school holidays? Kazi ya mjengo?” Said Mukiria Nderitu.
