Top 2019 KCSE Female Candidate Serves Jeff Koinange With Inspiration

MaryAnne Njeri Barasa is still in disbelief after emerging the second-best 2019 KCSE candidate, and the best female candidate nationwide.

Speaking during a TV interview on Citizen Tv’s JKL segment, the vibrant Kenya High Alumnus narrated the dramatic moments that ensued once Education CS George Magoha read out her name while releasing the results Wednesday.

“They mentioned my surname Barasa and there were just screams all over the house, then five minutes later we were all just like wait, which Barasa?” Njeri told host Jeff Koinange.

On the factors that to her exemplary performance, of an 87.078 A plain, Njeri recounted the long hours she put into studying for the test, which coupled with discipline and high ethics, led to her sweet success.

Njeri added that the next step in her life is pursuing her long-time dream of becoming a doctor, which she said is an indescribable calling deep within her heart.

“I have my prospects set on Harvard University, but I’m also open to anything (any other institutions),” the articulate star stated.

Njeri grew up in Kahawa Sukari Estate and scored 427 marks in the 2015 KCPE examination.

She is now aiming to cinch a Safaricom scholarship to actualize her dream of studying in the prestigious tertiary institution in the US.

Further, the teenager stated that after graduation, she hopes to live and work in Boston.

The humble student also took the platform as a chance to express her gratitude to her mother, describing the amount of support she had received from her.

“Mum, thank you so much, this is as much your victory as it is mine, I’m honestly really grateful, thank you for the prayers…the encouraging words, even when we were at our lowest…I love you so much,” she adorably said.

Njeri further advised her peers not to focus so much on their grades, rather, on their potential.

“I don’t believe that one exam has to define your whole life…This exam isn’t always everything. There is a God and He is always at work,” she stated.
