A death certificate with the name of Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko on Tuesday emerged on social media.
In the document, a person identified as Mbuvi Gidion Kioko died at Coast General Hospital on May 25, 2005.
According to the document, the person died of cardiopulmonary arrest aged 32 years and was a resident of Kwale County, where Governor Sonko was born.
It is not clear yet whether the person indicated in the document is the Nairobi Governor but a mere google search of the three names indicated in the death certificate directs to one person, city boss Governor Sonko.
According to Wikipedia, Mbuvi Gidion Kioko is a former Makadara Constituency MP, alias Mike Sonko.
“Mbuvi Gideon Kioko Wam Mike Sonko commonly known as Mike Sonko or simply Sonko is a Kenyan politician who currently serves as the second Governor of Nairobi since devolution,” reads the Wikipedia website.
The emergence of the death document adds a pinch of salt on Sonko’s roller-coaster lifestyle that has left him on the verge of sinking politically after a court barred him from accessing his office leaving Nairobi County in a leadership crisis.
During his prosecution, Sonko’s five aliases emerged in court after the charge sheet showed all the five names that Nairobi Governor uses in his day to day life.
According to the charge sheet, the Governor’s aliases include Kioko Mike Sonko Mbuvi, Mbuvi Gidion Kioko Mike Sonko, Mbuvi Gidion Kioko (which is on the controversial death certificate), Mike Sonko Mbuvi Gidion Kioko and Gidion Kioko Sonko.
With death certificate featuring one of Sonko’s aliases, the question that begs for an answer remains; does the certificate belong to embattled governor, did the governor forge his death certificate? And why could he have done so?
