Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to empower anti-corruption agencies in the country.
The fight against corruption has remained elusive with the country continuously losing billions to a few corrupt individuals.
Political analysts argue that Kenyans continue to suffer due to harsh economic conditions mainly imposed by corrupt individuals.
In an interview, Kabogo says that the fight against corruption should continue to ensure the embezzlement of public resources is stopped.
Without mincing words, Kabogo wants the government to launch and crack down on corrupt individuals and seize their illicit monies and property.

“The agencies that fight corruption should be empowered, this is the only way that sanity can be restored,” he said adding that all government agencies should work together to ensure that public properties are protected by all means.
Kabogo added that investigative agencies, led by the EACC, DCI and Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, should work closely and conduct thorough investigations in corruption cases.
“Our courts should also speed up corruption cases and avoid giving out lame excuses such as ‘there was not sufficient evidence’ just to let corruption suspects walk scot-free,” lamented Kabogo.
President Kenyatta has constantly reiterated that his government is committed to fighting corruption and bringing corrupt officials to book.
The president recently emphasized that no effort will be spared in ensuring that the vice that has been choking the country’s economy is completely destroyed.
“We will remain focused on the fight against corruption. We hope that every institution will play its part to make this war successful,” he said.
Recently, Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko and his Kiambu counterpart Ferdinard Waititu, were barred from accessing office due to corruption-related cases.
Sonko is being questioned over the loss of Ksh357 millions of county funds.
Sonko had failed to stop the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) from investigating him over corruption.
The DPP admitted that investigations into the case had been challenging because of the accused’s repeated attempts to obstruct the probe.
