Liverpool Have Already Wrapped Up the Premier League- Joe Cole

Liverpool overcame a few scares to beat Watford 2-0 at Anfield on Saturday, as they once again extended their lead at the top of the Premier League.

The win opened up an 11-point gap with Leicester City before their game against Norwich, and Joe Cole believes the title is already in the Reds’ hands, even though there are 21 games to go this season.

Speaking on BT Sport after the game, Cole said; “I think the title’s done. This year it’s coming to Anfield no problem whatsoever.”

“But, there will be another two or three more games like this. We really felt the tension when it was 1-0. You have to go through pain to win a title, you have to go through games where you’re not playing well and things are just not working and you show character, and Liverpool showed a lot of character today,” he added.

Bottom-placed Watford created a number of chances, and may have been able to get something out of the game if it weren’t for some awful finishing.

A couple of moments of magic from Mohamed Salah were the difference between the two sides. For the first goal he took a great touch and curled the ball into the net with his right foot, while for the second it was a reactionary flick through a defender’s legs to double Liverpool’s lead.

Peter Crouch added; “Man United did it for years, they weren’t playing well and got results. You always have Liverpool have another gear.”

Cole praised the way Liverpool were able to get the win from the game, even though they weren’t playing at their best.

“There were so many incidents where Liverpool got a little bit agitated, but when they did finally get it and Jordan Henderson strung a few passes together, all the little things you have to do when you know your team’s not playing well, they got there in the end,” he said.
