Arsenal will be looking to get back to back wins in the English Premier League when they host the defending champions Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
The Gunners got back to winning ways with a 3-1 away win to Westham to revive the hopes of finishing in the top four. Below, we look at how the Gunners could line up against Pep Guardiola’s team.
Defense
Bernd Leno is arguably the most consistent performer for Arsenal and will again start in goal. With Hector Bellerin injured, Ainsley Maitland Niles will deputize at right-back while Sead Koalsinacstarts on the left in place of the injured Kieran Tierney.
In central defense, Calum Chambers should continue his impressive partnership with Soktartis as they did against Westham.
Midfield
Freddie Ljungberg insisted that he will go for experience at the center of the pack which means that Matteo Guendouzi could find himself on the bench.
Granit Xhaka, tough full of silly mistakes is Arsenal’s most disciplined midfielder positionally and will start at the base alongside the ever-improving Lucas Torreira in a double pivot. Ahead of the two, Mesut Ozil will be allowed to play in his favored #10 position.
Attack
Nicholas Pepe is slowly adapting to the rigors of playing in the English Premier League and bagged a goal and an assist in the last match. He should start on the right-wing.
Meanwhile, Gabriele Martinelli has scored in every start he has made for the Gunners which means he will start on the left-wing as Pierre Emerich Aubameyang Captains the team while also leading the hunt for goals.
Starting XI: 4-2-1-3: Leno, Niles, Kolasinac, Chambers, Sokratis, Xhaka, Torreira, Ozil, Pepe, Martinelli, Aubameyang.
