ODM Breaks Silence Over Reports of Key Ally Ditching Raila For Ruto

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna on Wednesday reacted to reports indicating that former Machakos Senator Johnstone Mutham had ditched ODM leader Raila Odinga for Deputy President William Ruto.

While reacting to a tweer by Citizen Tv, the Orange Party SG captioned the report as; “Worst. Kept. Secret.”

When contacted by this writer for further details on what he meant, the ODM SG added nothing but said his message was clear from the tweet.

In a report done by Standard Digital, Muthama said that the Kamba nation had closed their chapter with the ODM leader and added that he will lead his tribesman Kalonzo Musyoka in brokering a deal with Deputy President William Ruto and former Nasa Co-principals, Musalia Mudavaid (ANC) and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya).

In the same report, the Former Machakos Senator, who has been a critic of Uhuru- administration and ardent support of Raila, vowed to lead senior political leaders in Ukambani in striking political deals ahead of 2022 General Elections.

However, according to a local news website, Muthama dismissed the reports as baseless and unfounded.

“Those are baseless reports and I will not be dragged into denying nor confirming as I never uttered such remarks,” said MuthamA as quoted by the website.

The website also reported that the Former Senator faulted the writer for insinuating that he had pledged to work with Ruto and added that the reporter’s assertions were based on his own perspective.

He also insisted that he is still active in politics.

“They are generated from the author’s own perspective. I am not out of politics. I never lost and I will continue being there,” Muthama added as quoted by the website.
