Co-op Bank Declared Best Bank in Kenya at 2019 EMEA Awards in London

Co-operative Bank of Kenya has been crowned the best in Kenya in 2019 Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Finance Awards held on December 5 in London.

Co-op Bank representatives at the gala, James Kaburu, Head of Investor Relations & Strategy and Bank Economist Anthony Muli, said that the award vindicates the lender’s vision to provide financial solutions to its customers.

“We are delighted to have been recognized with the prestigious EMEA Finance – African Banking Awards 2019, which vindicates our business model that uniquely combines world-class expertise and capabilities with deep-rooted local experience, enabling us to deliver market-leading solutions to our customers in Kenya,” said Mr. James Kaburu.

The EMEA Finance Awards recognize financial institutions that continue to increase profitability, deliver affordable credit to the retail and wholesale markets, and support local and transnational corporations do business through their client focus and sound leadership.

The lender has since 2014 been implementing what they refer to as the “Soaring Eagle” Transformation Agenda with a clear focus on improvement in operating efficiencies, sales force effectiveness and innovative customer delivery platforms.

The Group has also received several accolades, it was named Best Bank in Kenya; and 2019 East African Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards, the bank was named Overall Winner in the Environmental Sustainability Reporting category.

Recently the bank was named the overall winner of the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA) 2019 sustainable finance catalyst award.

During Mombasa ASK Show this year, the bank was named as the overall winner in the bank category and also the Large Trade Stand (Commercial & Industrial) category.

The award-winning bank has continued to support the agricultural sector across the Country through training.
