Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) party leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday held a private meeting with Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru at his Capital Hill office in Nairobi.
The details of the meeting remain scanty but according to ODM party’s social media accounts, the Kirnyaga Governor paid Raila a courtesy call.
The meeting marks the third time the two leaders have held discussions at the ODM leader’s office with political pundits arguing that the two could pair in the 2022 General Elections.
In April 2018, Waiguru led a host of governors at Raila office to discuss devolved government agenda ahead of Devolution Conference in Kakamega.
ODM party Spokesman Dennis Onyango said the two leaders agreed to bury their traditional differences which emanated in 2016 during NYS scandal.
Waiguru announced that he had withdrawn a defamation lawsuit filed against the former prime minister.
The two also met in November the same year and held discussions.
The details of the meeting were kept secret.
Tuesday’s meeting comes in the wake of ongoing debate over which way the Building Bridges Initiative(BBI) report should be implemented.
Waiguru, who is an ardent supporter of Uhuru-Raila Handshake, has been rooting for a referendum to accommodate the BBI recommendations.
The two have kept closed ties that culminated into Waiguru pulling her weight behind the ODM candidate in the Kibra by-election despite being a Jubilee Party member.
Barely a month ago, Waiguru, while speaking to Citizen TV said he was a frontrunner in the 2022 succession politics.
The governor, however, did not dismiss any possibility of being a presidential running mate.
