Following the heavy rains that hit Nairobi, activist Boniface Mwangi took to social media to expose the shoddy job done by the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) contractors, in building the new wing poorly, leaving passengers in the rain during current terrible weather.
Whoever designed and those who built Jomo Kenyatta International Airport “new wing” deserve to be prosecuted and jailed @ODPP_KE. They built Kenya a badly designed cowshed.7 million passengers use this shame of an airport every year. @KenyaAirports name and shame the contractors! pic.twitter.com/kNpDMpP6ik

Boni also reminded Kenyans of the evidence that emerged of how the contract for the construction of a modern passenger terminal at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport was varied by more than Sh 9 billion.

He questioned whether they were going to hand over the original terminal A contracts to the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission of Kenya(EACC), Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and the Directorate of criminal investigations (DCI) for further investigations and possible prosecution.
The Kenya Airports Authority(KAA) has since responded by apologizing to Boniface and all their customers for lack of shelters at the JKIA drop off zone.
Hello Boniface, thank you for your feedback. We hear you and take this chance to sincerely apologise to you and to all our customers for the lack of shelters at the JKIA drop off zone, especially during this rain season. 1/2 (Cont.)

They further stated that they have projects in place to improve the passenger journey at JKIA which include installation of canopies covering walkways, drop off points and meet and greet areas to protect airport users from adverse weather conditions.

In other JKIA news, its been reported that a senior police officer who was the lead investigator during the Dusit D2 terror attack collapsed and died shortly after arriving at Airport on Saturday, November 30.
The officer, identified as Chief Inspector Monica Wambui Githaiga, had touched down at the busy airport from Japan where she had undertaken a short course.
