Thiongo’s Brace sinks Mathare in Machakos

A peter Thiongo double helped Kakamega Homeboyz get back to winning ways with a comfortable 3-1 win over Mathare United at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

The forward opened the scoring in added time during the first half following what had been a dominant display from Homeboyz throughout the opening period.

He completed his brace just seven minutes after the restart following neat build-up play from Allan Wanga. Homeboyz was cruising and Mathare needed a reply.

They did get one on the hour mark steering the match for a grandstand finish. John Mwangi applying a smart finish with Kevin Kiman involve in the build-up.

Double tragedy hit Mathare in the space of two minutes. First, midfielder Roy Okal was sent off for a second bookable offense in the 80th minute and then two minutes later, David Okoth put the game to bed for Homeboyz with an expertly taken third goal.

The win leaves Homeboyz second on the table with 20 points, four behind leaders Gor Mahia. Mathare meanwhile is 7th with 17 points from 11 matches.

The league continues this Saturday with Kariobangi Sharks hosting KCB at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani while Gor Mahia welcomes Uliznis stars at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu.

AFC Leopards visits Nzoia Sugar and Wazito hosts Chemelil in Machakos. All Matches kick off at 3 PM.
