Cabinet Secretary(CS) for Interior Fred Matiang’i  on Friday tore into a group of leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto over their recent attacks directed to him and his Permanent Secretary(PS) Karanja Kibicho.

Speaking in Kirinyaga County, the CS said his ministry officials only pick orders from President Uhuru Kenyatta and urged politicians to keep them off from any political accusations.

In a warning that was in appearences directed to Tanga Tanga members, a political faction allied to Ruto, Matiang’i warned that he will not tolerate any attack directed to his PS saying they both work together in accordance to the instructions from the President.

“Unajua sisi tumekua tukipigwa, Kibicho analaumiwa hapa, sijui anasumbuana ati sijui mtu mwingine analipa watu Kutuita that we are the terrible duos from the Office of the President…

“Wacha tuseme wazi wazi tukiwa hapa, sisi hatupendangi maneno ya upuzi upuzi kazi lazima ifanywe. Sisi tulipewa kazi tufanye na raisi wetu alitupea kazi tufanye.

“Kama nchi inatawaliwa na inalindwa kama vile boma inalindwa. Boma inalindwa na mtu wa kuongoza ni mmoja… Sisi tunafanyia Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta kazi juu yeye ndo Rais wetu. Na Rais akituamrisha vile kazi inafaa ifanywe mimi na Kibicho tutafuata hiyo amri,” said Matiang’i

Loosle translated as: “You know people have been fighting us and blaming us over a myriad of issues. My PS here has been blamed over those issues and someone has been paying people to term us as terrible duos from the Office of the President.

“Let me make it clear here today that we don’t like nonsense. We must do our work. We were given work by our president and we must deliver.

Interior Permanent Secretary Karanja Kibicho.

“A country is being governed and controlled the way a normal family is being led. A family is being led by one person… We are working for President Uhuru. If he orders us to do  a particular task this way we will strictly follow the order to the latter.”

The Interior CS affirmed his commitment to serving all Kenyans equally regardless of their political affiliations.

Matiang’ i insisted that they had no political allegiance and said their roles were based on the mandate given to them by President Uhuru.

The remarks by the Interior CS comes barely a month after Tanga Tanga leaders, led by Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa, castigated Matiang’i and PS Kibicho for the pockets of violence witnessed during the voting exercise in Kibra by-election.

In a statement which they issued at Parliament building, the MPs claimed that the interior CS and his PS met ODM leader Raila Odinga and his party officials at a hotel in Lang’ata on the eve of the voting day.

They claimed that the meeting struck a deal that saw Jubilee party leaders attacked in Kibra in the presence of police officers who they claimed did nothing to contain the pockets of violence.
