The body of a Dedan Kimathi University of Science and Technology student who drowned a week ago was on Thursday found at a riverbank near Gatiki Bridge in Mukurweini, Nyeri County.
Ezra Mwangi Njenga drowned at Sagana River on Thursday evening last week where he and friends had gone for a swimming expedition.
Njenga, 22, was a fourth-year student taking Actuarial Science and had two weeks remaining to tackle his final exam before tragedy struck.
The body was found about seven kilometers from the scene where he drowned at Muruguru Ward, Nyeri Central Sub County.

“We would like to inform you we have recovered the body of Ezra Mwangi Njenga who went missing on 21, 2019 while swimming at Sagana falls.” A statement from the university students’ council read in part.
The council secretary general Franklin Manyara sent condolences to the family, friends, classmates and the entire Dedan Kimathi fraternity. “We have lost a great mind and a hero in our institution,” Manyara said.
The deceased hailed from Kinangop Constituency, Nyandarua County and his family had been camping in Nyeri for the last one week awaiting recovery of his body.
