Liverpool Boss Issues Injury Update Ahead of Champions League Tie

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has issued full team news and injury update ahead of their Champions League clash with Napoli set for Wednesday.

The Reds boss was pleased to confirm Naby Keita has returned to full training after the midfielder missed the win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday due to illness.

Klopp also provided a positive update on striker Mohamed Salah after he failed to feature during the 2-1 victory over Palace.

Salah has been carrying a niggling ankle problem in recent weeks which kept him out of action during the international break but it looks like the Egyptian attacker is available to face Napoli.

However, Liverpool will still be without the services of Joel Matip as the centre-back continues to recover from a knee injury while Nathaniel Clyne is also still on the sidelines with a long-term knee injury.

“Good, good. No long-term injuries – no Joel [Matip], no Clyney, no Paul [Glatzel]. Naby was a little bit [ill] after the game, he trained yesterday but all the others look fine.”

“Mo looks really good. He looked really good in training the day before yesterday especially, after the game. It was really good,” Klopp said.

Klopp also revealed that Matip is still not able to train as he continues to work his way back to full fitness having not featured since the draw with Manchester United over a month ago.

“Good. This week we have kind of a reassessment scan where you have a look at how it improved, but there’s nothing you can really do a lot, you have to wait until the body is doing the job pretty much.

“And we will see that, then we’ll know more. He looks fine but is not able to play and not able to train at the moment,” Klopp said.
