That was the first time seeing the ‘Iron Lady’ or rather the ‘Iron Fist’-as she’s called in the boxing world, shedding tears.

Her tormenting experience in Mexico ranges from lacking coaches, to facing frustrations of all sorts during his trip for that most important fight.

She says the government abandoned her completely at the hour of need, and that her promoter also slept on his job by not laying down a proper logistic plan ahead of the bout.

“It was a very difficult experience. First, I traveled to Mexico without coaches because I could not afford their tickets.

“It’s even more painful because the government, through the ministry of sports, promised us two tickets for the coaches but they never fulfilled the promise,” Zarika said.

Her daughter Sofia Zarika also narrated how her mother suffered from leg pains and how she trained by the roadside while traveling to the fighting venue.

Zarika first won the title in 2016 and defended it three times before losing it in 2019.

Ahead of the 2019 fight, Zarika had recorded 32 Technical Knockouts, 12 knockouts and two losses from 46 fights from the time she joined the paid ranks in 2003.
