All hell broke loose after a heated debate in parliament turned ugly.
Kimilili MP Didimus Barasa was in the thick of things after remarks made towards Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris escalated the tension already set by the motion in parliament.
The Kimilili lawmaker threatened to be violent with Passaris after being fed up with her sentiments towards Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi’s sex tape scandal.
“Mr Speaker, I will punch this woman who is making noise to me. Don’t make noise to me here,” stated Barasa.
The Nairobi woman rep did not take the remarks lightly and walked to the lawmaker in an attempt to provoke him to go ahead and make true his words.
“Honorable Didimus is standing here besides wanting to beat me, I challenge you. Surely, you can’t beat me,” Passaris expressed.
The matter between the two leaders, however, took a twist when order was partially restored by the National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi.
Barasa when questioned over the sentiments expressed, denied he wanted to punch the woman leader and instead reiterated that Homa Bay woman rep Gladys Wanga and Kisumu woman rep Rosa Buyu wanted to beat him up.
“It is honourable Gladys and Rosa who are attempting to punch me. I did not punch her (Passaris),” noted the Jubilee party Member of Parliament.
The tough-talking Kimilili lawmaker was part of the leaders supporting the report by the Powers and Privileges Committee that found Gedi in the wrong for leaking to the media a letter from the DCI.
According to the group, Gedi was to face severe action once the motion was passed by the MPs.
The embattled Gedi, in the end, heaved a sigh of relief after her counterparts declined to have her reprimanded.
Media reports indicated that the document from George Kinoti’s department requested the names of four leaders named in the saga to appear before him for questioning.
The four roped into the matter and are expected to record statements at the Kiambu road-based institution include Eldas MP Aden Keynan, Abdihakim Mohamed of Fafi Constituency, Isiolo Woman Representative Rehema Jaldesa and her Kirinyaga colleague Wangui Ngirici.
The stern-faced Kinoti a week ago, found himself in the hot seat when he was grilled by the Muturi led committee on why investigations into the scandal had taken too long.
The fate of the four remains unknown as the DCI boss is yet to give the way forward in the ongoing matter.
