Why Your Vagina Hurts During Sex

Painful sex is referred to as dyspareunia.

Many women experience this if there is not enough lubrication produced. There are different ways of treating this by becoming more relaxed, increasing foreplay and using lube. Seek medical attention if it does not change.

If you have been wondering why you are experiencing these pains during sex, here is why;

1. There is no lube involved.

Some times the vaginal lubrication may not be enough and it can lead to friction and pain during penetration. To avoid the discomfort, use lube. They come in different types; water, oil and silicon-based.

2. You could be having vaginal infections.

They are common in women and they include; yeast infections, chlamydia, viral vaginitis, bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis. Consult your doctor once you discover your vagina is not in its normal state.

3. You are experiencing vaginismus.

This is a condition that involves a muscle spasm in the pelvic floor muscles. It makes sex painful and difficult. Besides that, you also feel uncomfortable when undergoing a gynecological exam or inserting a tampon. It can be caused by both physical and psychological factors or a combination of both.

4. You have a condition called, Endometriosis.

It’s a condition that forms in the lining of your uterus( endometrium) and grows outside of your uterine cavity. The endometrial tissue grows on your ovaries, bowel, and tissues lining of your pelvis. During penetration and other movements related to sex, stretch the endometrial tissues causing the pain.

5. You have a vaginal or vulva injury.

The vulva and vagina are very sensitive organs and it’s not easy to hurt them. These injuries could be caused by an accident, surgery, pelvic trauma, female circumcision, unsuccessful piercings, or an incision made to widen the birth canal. They can make you tear during sex and it’s also possible to tear up if there is a wound that has not healed well.

6. There is no foreplay or stimulation.

Every woman needs some stimulation before getting real in the sheets. The vagina is a self lubricator and it may take at least 20minutes for the woman to be aroused fully. This is because it involves the clitoris, vagina and erectile tissue in the labia to be fully stimulated. Talk to your man and tell your man to engage in more foreplay.
