Four Things You Need To Know Before The Kenya Premier League Resumes

The Kenya Premier League resumes on Wednesday after a two-week international break. Gor Mahia is top of the table with 18 points from the first 7 games played.

The Slum Boys have played five matches, won four, drawn five and lost exactly none! This is an amazing feat especially when you consider that Mathare United lost its former head coach Francis Kimanzi just weeks to the start of the new season.

Salim Ali is now the head coach and he will be looking to extend his unbeaten run when his side hosts Sofapaka at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani on Wednesday.

Walkovers Galore

There have been three walkovers handed out in the Kenya Premier League so far this season. Two have been from cash strapped Sony while the other was from the bottom side Chemelil.

Rumors doing the rounds claim that a fourth one is set to be handed out on Wednesday as Chemelil has not traveled to face KCB at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Chemelil Winless

Despite playing eight matches so far this season, Chemelil Sugaris yet to register a win. They sit bottom of the table, having lost 7 matches and drawn just once which leaves them with just a single point from a possible 24!

With each passing matchday, Chemelil edge closer to the National Super League and on current form, it does not look like they will survive in the second tier league too.

Wazito yet to convince

Newly promoted sie Wazito FC spent a lot of money in the transfer window and signed a lot of players. Many tipped them to be title contenders but so far, the money bags have won just twice from nine matches.

Melis Medo has since been appointed to replace the sacked Boniface Ambani as the head coach but still, Wazito has failed to convince thus far.
