Busia Senator Amos Wako on Wednesday broke his silence over a travel ban issued by the United State of America against him.

The senator defended his track record saying he has been on the forefront fighting corruption contrary to the allegations indicated in the travel ban details.

“I have not been mentioned, suspected, investigated nor mentioned nor prosecuted in connection to corruption. On the contrary, I have been a witness on a number of corruption cases that were prosecuted before the court of law.

“I was therefore baffled and perplexed that out of blues without any authentification whatsoever, without being had a travel ban issued on November 18, 2019,” said Wako.

Wako went ahead and questioned why his rights to be heard were violated before effecting the ban.

The senator challenged the US govt to make public particulars of graft allegations against him and said that his family should not be victimised.

“Even if I committed the sin of corruption which I am emphatically denying will be my personal responsibility. My wife and son should not be punished,”  he said.

The US, on Monday, issued a travel advisory to the senator banning him, his wife and son from setting feet in the country.

In 2009, Wako also revealed that his Visa was revoked on the same grounds of corruption and lamented over lack of delay in explaining the reason behind the revocation.

“It took 6 months for my lawyer to receive a reply when he requested to know why my visa had been revoked in 2009 by the US,” said Wako.

Senator Wako urged his supporters to stop demonstrating saying it was a small matter to him and he will handle it.

Besides, the former Attorney General also expressed his commitment to fighting corruption.

“I am against corruption and I believe I as an individual and the people of Kenya as a whole are entitled to full disclosure of general allegation of corruption against me,” added the attorney.
