5 Reasons Why Mohammed Ali Will Not Support BBI

Former journalist cum politician, Mohammed Ali, has come out strongly to express his opinion on the Building Bridges Initiative.

The Nyali legislator on Wednesday said that he will not at any cost support the BBI-a position that many politicians allied to the Deputy President, William Ruto hold.

There is a clear division among leaders in the country albeit the BBI report is yet to be handed over to President Uhuru Kenyatta and later released to the public.

                                                                       Nyali MP, Mohammed Ali

All in all some of the contents of the BBI report seemed to have leaked exerting fear and anxiety among some leaders such as Mohammed Ali.

In a video seen by Opera News, he expresses his dissatisfaction with the BBI while giving reasons why he will not support it. They include:

BBI is creating leadership positions for only popular tribes

Ali said that in as much as the BBI wanted to bring together the country he could not understand why only the top leadership positions were ostensibly slotted to cater for the five large tribes out of the forty-four tribes in the country.

“Balancing the leadership positions in all tribes in Kenya is good but why are we having the country’s resources being shared among five tribes? Where will the Maasai be…Giriama?” He questioned.

The country does not have enough money.

Ali also argued that if passed the BBI would create more elective positions which would require the taxpayers to deep more into their pockets to sustain the new elective posts and their holders.

“The debt that our country has is going to be repaid after 71 years where then does the government plan to get the extra money to pay the new leaders?” Ali also questioned.

Service delivery will be poor

Ali also argued that in order to create more powerful positions at the top, the BBI would have to do away with some lower elective positions and revert back to the regional administration.

He wondered if the current governor in Mombasa could not be able to bring development and proximity was near what of when he moves to a headquarter further away.

Non-inclusivity of the youths

He also argued that the BBI did not include the youth while coming up with its report hence could not cater to the needs of the youths.

Non-inclusivity of the poor

He terms BBI as a ‘Building Billionaires Initiative’ claiming that it will only cater to the rich. He also went further ahead to say ‘they’ came up with the initiative to protect their businesses and wealth.

Moha well said👏👏👏Pia mimi nasema BBI mtu apelekee BIBI yake😂😂😂wale wa makasiriko na wakasirike !!!
