Ruto Clamps Down on Nation Media Journalist Over Kibra, Sagana Article

Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday ridiculed a journalist over an article targeting Jubilee party.

Ruto, who has previously been at war with Daily Nation, picked up a new fight this time specifically with a journalist from the media house.

Through a tweet, the DP remarked that the facts given by the journalist referred to as Macharia Gaitho in regards to the Kibra by-election and Sagana meeting, were misplaced.

The Deputy President, however, pointed out that the writer had tried to bring out the happenings but was way off from what the actual details were on the ground.

According to the tough-talking Ruto, Jubilee improved its numbers during the Kibra by-election in terms of percentage despite the heavy loss to ODM party.

He further reiterated that the contest which pitted their candidate Macdonald Mariga against KIbra MP-elect Imran Okoth, gave them an opportunity to expose the masterminds of violence in the area.

DP Ruto also noted that the Sagana meeting by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mt Kenya leaders, proved that the ruling party was stronger and still a powerhouse.

The man who once served as the acting president in 2014 when Uhuru was at the Hague, declared that stories on local dailies were paid for and didn’t exhibit the truth of the situation.

“Gaitho, your piece though inaccurate is an attempted fair comment. In Kibra, we doubled our %vote & used the opportunity to call out the lords of violence. In Sagana, Jubilee’s democratic credentials were affirmed. Headlines are paid for, stories planted&span. Twitter is the remedy,” read the tweet from the deputy president.

Gaitho in his article, alleged that Ruto was irked when it was reported that his supporters were pushing control of Jubilee party.

To add insult to injury, the reporter proclaimed that the angry Ruto had adapted US President Donald Trump’s behaviour of using twitter to go after the media.

Unleashing missiles after missiles, the Kimathi Street-based journalist further commented that the nicknamed ‘man from Sugoi’, was wrong in wishing ill on people while at the same time using bible references to justify his point.

The columnist expressed that Ruto should have taken his frustrations out on his self proclaimed ‘spokespeople’ instead of attacking those charged with reporting what happens in the country.

This latest verbal attack by the DP indicates that he is far from backing down from waging war with various media companies that portray either him or the ruling party in a bad way.
