Players To Watch As Mathare United Host Sofapaka

The Kenya Premier League resumes this week with eight matches lined up for Wednesday and Thursday. Mathare United who is yet to lose a match this season will host Sofapaka at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani on Wednesday from 3 PM.

Below we look at the players to watch in this high profile encounter.

Kevin Kimani-Mathare United

The attacking midfielder continues to defy age and is the heartbeat to Mathare United’s attack. He can play on any flank and is just as deadly in the number 10 role.

He is also a former Sofapaka player and will be eager to remind them of the qualities they miss without him in their team.

Kepha Aswani-Sofapaka

The 31-year-old may be approaching the twilight of his career but he remains a nuisance for most defenders. His height makes it easy for him to connect with aerial balls and dominate defenders physically.

Aswani is yet to score this season and you can bet that he will want to end that run a soon as possible.

Daniel Otieno

The youngster scored in his last match against Sony Sugar. At just 21 years of age, Otieno still has a lot to learn but the raw ingredients are present. He is pacy, can dribble and has a finishing touch.

Sofapaka will need to be wary of the lad.

Timonah Wanyonyi

The former AFC Leopards attacker has had an indifferent start to the season but still remains vital to the Sofapaka attack. Mostly deployed on the right-wing, Wanyonyi has the pace to burn and could pose a huge problem for Mathare United’s fullbacks.

One to keep a keen eye on.
