Harambee Stars played out a 1-1 draw with Togo in their second AFCON 2021 qualifiers at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani. It was the team’s second draw after drawing with the same scoreline against Egypt.
Below, we look at how the players fared in the match.
Ian Otieno
The goalkeeper showed in this match why he is the second choice to Patrick Matasi. He looked shaky whenever the ball came in his area and took too much time before he could take his goal kicks.
Not a convincing performance from Ian.
Score: 5
Samuel Olwande
Did his duties impressively but lacks the forward thrusts that are needed from a modern-day full-back. Cannot fault him for anything though.
Score: 5
Eric Ouma
Was his usual buys self, defending with discipline and supporting the attack with his marauding runs forward. His deliveries were not up to the usual standard.
Score: 6
Joash Onyango
His reading of the game was totally off against Togo. Mistimed quite a few tackles and was deservedly booked for a nasty late tackle in the second half.
Score: 5
Joseph Okumu
Poor by his standards. Left his position a lot trying to look for the ball especially in the second half which could have led to a goal had Togo maintained composure in the final third.
Score: 6
Victor Wanyama
Easily the worst Harambee Stars player on the pitch. Most of his passes went astray, either under-hit or straight into the opposition players. One of the matches that Wanyama will want to forget in a hurry.
Score: 4
Lawrence Juma
His combination with Wanyama just does not work. He was hooked off early after a rather dismal display.
Score: 5
Johanna Omollo
He took his goal brilliantly with his weaker left foot. Tried his best to link the midfield with the attack but he was the only one attempting that. The only Kenyan player who can hold his head high after the match.
Score: 7
Cliff Nyakeya
Never got going at all in the match.
Score: 5
Eric Johanna
Works hard defensively but going forward he was simply not good enough. The decision making was off all night and one takes too many shots that are mostly off-target.
Score: 5
Micheal Olunga
Barely got any service in the match but he did not do himself any favors with when he did have the ball. A poor showing overall.
