5 Allegations Uhuru Dismissed At Sagana Meeting

Well, with the simmering political tension and visibly fractured relations within the Jubilee party, perhaps President Uhuru Kenyatta’s meeting with a host of Mt Kenya leaders came at the right time.

On Friday, President Uhuru Kenyatta met various leaders from the Mt Kenya region at Sagana State Lodge in Meru County to discuss a myriad of issues ranging from development to political tensions being experienced in the region.

At the time of the meeting was being held, several allegations being peddled within and without Jubilee party had left the ruling political outfit on the verge of its death.

However, the Head of State took the opportunity to address several speculations and in all appearance gave his stance on them contrary to the earlier perceptions.

Building Bridges Initiative(BBI)

The BBI report that is yet to be unveiled has become the talking point of various political functions with both Jubilee and ODM parties locking horns over it’s foreseen recommendations.

The ODM party on record has been terming the BBI report as the turning point of the country’s political status to an extent of alluding to a possible referendum.

On the other hand, Members of Parliament(MPs) allied to Deputy President William Ruto have been expressing reservations on the BBI initiative on the ground that it is meant to prevent the DP from ascending to power in favour of the ODM leader Raila Odinga.

However, according to President Uhuru, the allegations peddled about the BBI initiatives are far-fetched.

Uhuru reiterated that the BBI report was not about power but simply to unite Kenyans.

“I called him to ask him, what is it, you have caused a lot of problems….so if it is stoning, come throw the stones at me.

“I said we would rather have peace because our focus is to unite Kenya,” said Uhuru as quoted by Statehouse Digital Blogger Dennis Itumbi.

Kibra by-election

Contrary to earlier reports that indicated that President Uhuru was not in support of the Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga, Uhuru revealed that he was still a Jubilee Member and was in support of their candidate.

“Even though our candidate lost I believe Kenyans and especially people from Mt.Kenya won,” said Uhuru as quoted by Itumbi.

President Uhuru said he Supported McDonald Mariga.

Stick to Power

Also, contrary to allegations of President Uhuru planning to stick to power and become a prime minister come 2022, the head of state dismissed the allegations again and said he was not interested in such.

Uhuru said that the position of power is not his forever and that its there for any other person to take.

“Uhuru today can be hit by a bus. But Kenya will live on. Uhuru can leave power today. But there will be another leader,” said Uhuru as quoted by Itumbi.

Making Raila President

MPs allied to Dp Ruto have been castigating the BBI report on the ground that it seeks to ensure Raila ascends to power come 2022.

However, according to Uhuru his Handshake deal was not about power but only about peace.

“I have never promised Raila Odinga anything on his political ambitions. I only discuss peace with him,” said Uhuru as quoted by Itumbi.

Supporting Ruto

On allegations that President Uhuru was on the verge of ditching his Deputy come 2022, the head of state in a statement insinuated that he had not changed his promise to Ruto.

“You do not have to remind me what we said about future elections. I know,” said Uhuru as quoted by Itumbi.
