Why Ruto Will Never Be President – Atwoli Explains

Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General has warned Deputy President William Ruto to stop early campaigns or risk political isolation that will hamper his 2022 presidential ambitions.

He warned the DP that he will face isolation while giving the example of former vice-presidents Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Mwai Kibaki and George Saitoti, whom he claimed were isolated for showing interests in the Presidency seat.

“I am appealing to our brothers and more so the Deputy President William Ruto to put some breaks on campaigns. Let him not be hyper or else he would be isolated,” he noted.

Atwoli, who hosted different Members of Parliament at his Nairobi home, also asked politicians to stop fights and “respect the Presidency of Uhuru Kenyatta”.

Similarly, the outspoken trade unionist reiterated his support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), proclaiming that the country would soon have a constitutional referendum to support inclusivity in the country.

“We want politicians to tell their supporters to be calm. To be peaceful and face the referendum. By June next year, we should have looked at the Constitution and amended it because everybody wants inclusivity in this country,” Atwoli said.

Atwoli, in several instances, has openly shown his opposition to DP Ruto’s quest for the presidency.

In January, during the funeral of Lugari MP Ayub Savula’s daughter, Joanne Chiri, Atwoli said that “the DP is not the right leader for Kenya. He hates others”.

“Ruto will never lead Kenya. We shall have a President in 2022, but it will not be William Ruto.”

Again in April, while addressing a gathering in Lamu County, the firebrand trade unionist claimed that Ruto’s political future is bleak because he will not be part of the 2022 ballot.

“The name William Samoei Ruto will not in the ballot box in 2022. You can take it to the bank for free,” he declared.

In October, while speaking at Bukwala Seventh Day Adventist Church in Khwisero Constituency, Atwoli told Ruto to stop wasting time campaigning because he will not be in the next government.

“I want to tell Ruto that he has no place in the next government. He should stop running around in churches and dishing out huge donations,” Atwoli stated.

On Monday, political analyst Herman Manyora advised Ruto to seek the support of Atwoli if he wants to clinch the 2022 presidential elections.

Manyora noted that several Atwoli prophecies have come to pass including his predictions on Citizen TV JKL Show that ODM Candidate Imran Okoth would clinch the Kibra seat by 10 AM came to pass.

On Wednesday, Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi also claimed that Raila will have an advantage over Ruto if he runs to be the President come 2022, because of the executive power he enjoys thanks to the handshake.
