Chelsea Youngster Reveals How Lampard Managed to Convince Him to Stay at The Club

Chelsea forward Hudson-Odoi has revealed that a word of reassurance from coach Frank Lampard made him sign a new contract with Chelsea despite turning down a contract offer under former manager, Mauricio Sarri.

The England winger was angling for a move away from the club last summer after turning down a deal with the Blues. Bayern Munich and Manchester United were said to be interested in signing the skillful forward.

Sarri left for Juventus in the summer and Lampard took over . weeks later Odoi extended his contract and he says the Blues legend managed to convince him to forget about ditching his boyhood club by convincing him that he believed in him.

Lampard's faith in and vision for Hudson-Odoi was enough for the winger to stay

“I had one conversation. I just had a conversation with him and then from there, I knew this is where I wanted to stay 100 percent. I can’t say exactly what he said but he just said he believes in me, he wants me to work hard and if I believe in myself then he believes in me and things will go well for me at this club. And he wants me to play for him,” he said.

“They were encouraging signs for me that you want to hear from a manager, that he believes in me and has faith in me, that I can become a good player and achieve a lot of stuff at the club. I was excited. It was exciting times that a new manager was coming in and also you know that he will play at least some of the youth boys as well
