6 Foods You Should Never Eat During Periods

The same way you are meant to watch what you eat during pregnancy, it applies during periods. But it is not so intense. During your menses, there are times your body is craving for certain foods and this is brought by high progesterone levels.

This results in bloating, increasing hunger, headache and mood fluctuations. The serotonin hormone( which is related to the well being of the body) is said to fluctuate too. This results in an increase in appetite and moods which occurs before the period.

Here are seven foods you need to avoid during your menses;

1.Spicy Foods. 

Any food with spices can lead to a stomach upset which leaves you diarrheing, in pain and feeling nauseated. If you have noticed that your stomach struggles to accommodate any kind of spicy foods, avoid them. It’s just for 5 days and you can eat as much as you want.

2. Sugary foods.

There are some ladies who cannot have anything sugary because they tend to experience painful cramps while others do not.

It’s advised to have sugar in small quantities because too much of it can worsen your mood by feeling depressed, anxious or emotional.

3.Alcohol.

It can dehydrate you which will welcome more symptoms that you are not ready to experience.

Some of the symptoms include; headaches, bloating, and digestive issues diarrhea and nausea.

4. Red Meat. 

Examples of red meat include; beef, pork, goat, lamb, mutton just to mention a few.

When on your body produces prostaglandins, they help your uterus contract and get rid of the uterine lining which causes cramps.

5.Coffee.

It causes headaches, water retention and bloating. When you withdraw from it, it causes headaches which may take a toll on you. Simply reduce your coffee intake.

6. Salt.

It leads to water retention that can result in bloating, develop sharp pains and swelling of your tummy.

To reduce the bloating, don’t add salt in your meals. t
