Why Ruto Needs Atwoli After the Kibra Defeat-Manyora

Political analyst and the University of Nairobi (UON) lecturer Herman Manyora wants Deputy President William Ruto to befriend Central Organization Trade Union (COTU)  Secretary General Francis Atwoli following his humiliating defeat in the Kibra by-election.

This comes after the COTU boss’ prediction on the Kibra by-election came to pass.

Political Analyst Herman Manyora urges DP William Ruto to befriend COTU boss Francis Atwoli.

According to Manyora, given that Atwoli’s several predictions have come true, time is nigh for the DP to consider having a conversation with the unionist perhaps for the sake of his political future.

“Indeed this Atwoli man is strange… By the way on a light note this Atwoli with his prophecies, he talked of the Handshake it came.

“Atwoli with your prophesies and curses be careful. Yo said Echesa will be sacked he was sacked. You prophecied that BBI will be there and it is there.

And you say there will be referendum and it will pass. But what is more important and more worrying is for William Samoei Ruto. Look for Atwoli. Atwoli says you will never be president look for him ameze hiyo mate (he get rid of that bad omen),” said Manyora.

The advice from the UON lecturer comes at a time when the COTU boss and the DP have a bitter relationship.

COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli.

On a number of occasions, Atwoli has sworn that Ruto will not be the president come 2022 General Elections.

At one instance while leading a fundraiser at SDA church in Butere, Atwoli said Ruto will not get any votes in Westward region unless he seeks his blessings.

Already, Atwoli has predicted that before the 2022 General Elections the country will have a referendum.

The COTU boss is boasting of a number of prophecies that have come to pass in recent times.

Before the Handshake deal between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga in March 2018, the unionist had in January 2018 foreseen the two political nemeses burying the hatchet after their controversial battle in 2017 General Elections.

In January 2019, during the burial of Lugari MP Ayub Savula’s daughter, Atwoli asked former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa to mend his way or be axed from the cabinet.

Fewer than three months later, Echesa was sacked from Uhuru’s cabinet.

The COTU boss later while appearing JKL live said: “I cursed him (Echesa) and it has not taken even three months and he is already in trouble. He has been fired from the Cabinet.”
