Wenger: Liverpool Have an Edge Over Man City

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes the absence of Aymeric Laporte gives Liverpool an edge heading into Sunday’s clash against Manchester City.

The French defender is currently sidelined for long after picking a knee injury and had to undergo surgery.
City have had defensive injuries and in recent weeks they had to field midfielders Rodri and Fernandinho at the heart of their defense. John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi are struggling with fitness issues.
Speaking ahead of the crunch tie, Wenger said the defender’s absence could tilt the game to the Reds’ advantage but expects a tightly fought match between the two sides.
“Well , we have seen in recent years that they are very tight games. We know Man City will take the game to Liverpool, and that Liverpool will be very dangerous on the counter-attack. I personally feel they could not afford to lose Laporte, Manchester City,” he said.
“If you look at their results, they still play great football but they are a fractionally a bit more vulnerable defensively. And that could be a big handicap against Liverpool”.
City sit at the helm of the English Premier League table, they are six points ahead of City.
