Man City Keeper Doubtful for Liverpool Clash

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says he is unsure whether keeper Ederson will be fit for the Citizen’s Sunday crunch league match against league leaders Liverpool at Anfield.

The Brazilian keeper was taken off with a foot injury during City’s 1-1 draw with Atalanta in a UEFA Champions League match on Wednesday night. His replacement Claudio Bravo was sent off but Guardiola’s side managed to pick a point from the match.

The Citizens had to turn to defender Kyle Walker who took over from Bravo for the closing stages of the game and managed to pull two saves in the game to help his side pick an important away point.

Asked whether the player will be ready for Sunday action, Pep was noncommittal while revealing that the keeper had picked a muscular problem. He added that the change was a precautionary one as the player did not feel comfortable. He is set to undergo further tests to determine the extent of the damage.

“I don’t know right now. It’s a muscular problem. It was not big but [I took him off] to avoid risk. He didn’t feel comfortable in the last minutes and that’s why we decided to make a substitution,” he said.
