Mesut Ozil Thanks Kenyan Fans For Support, Rewards Them

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has thanked club supporters from Kenya for the support they have showed through a video of ‘Mesut chant’ that has surfaced online.

Ozil has been largely sidelined by coach Unai Emery featuring in a handful of matches this season. Fans have been up in arms demanding that he be fielded with the Gunners struggling in the English Premier League.

The Spanish tactician finally yielded to pressure and recalled the German midfielder for last week’s Carabao Cup defeat to Liverpool and started him again during the one-all draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers at home on Saturday.

Arsenal’s Kenyan fans took to social media to air their support for the midfielder through the famous ‘We got Ozil, he is better than Zidane’ chant. The video was shared on Twitter and it has since caught the attention of the world cup winner who has expressed his gratitude at the gesture.

“We’ve got Ozil… Mesut Ozil… I just don’t think you understand. He’s Arsene Wenger’s man, He’s better than Zidane, We’ve got Mesut Ozil..”

“This support is overwhelming! ❤🙏🏼 I hope you will find a good place for my little gift 👍🏼😉 Thank you so much Kenya,” the Gunners’ number 10 tweeted.

It’s not the first time the former Real Madrid man is being involved with Arsenal fans from Kenya. Last year, a young boy Lawrence Masira was spotted wearing an old Arsenal jersey with Ozil’s name written at the back using a pen, the midfielder responded by sending the youngster several original jerseys among other gifts.
