Kamba Women Top Murder Convicts’ List, David Ndii Tears into Miguna and Raila Gets Reinforcements in Kibra

Good morning Kenyans, we hope you had a lovely weekend. The year is running so fast and with that, the holiday mood is starting to catch up with some of us. You might as well start saving for December but do not forget that January will also be knocking at your door.

The weekend was majorly political with ODM leader Raila Odinga’s bedroom, Kibra, being the epicenter of events. It so looks like the bedroom is getting so hot that reinforcements were needed by Raila to help protect what he holds so dear.

In what many have termed as the face of the Building Bridges Intiative, BBI, Raila was joined by among others Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, Machakos’ Alfred Mutua, Kitui’s Charity Ngilu and Makueni’s Kivutha Kibwana.

Ruto and his ‘son’ Mariga have shaken baba’s bedroom and they seem to be actually enjoying it. The question many people are, however, asking is, “Is Ruto really out to win in Kibra or is he just out to send a message to Raila and ODM?”

Whatever the case, the Kibra by-election will prove who will reign supreme between the pro and anti-BBI brigade.

Away from politics, it was a mixed weekend for Kenyans in the sporting arena. Miles away in New York, Geoffrey Kamworor reclaimed his New York Marathon title after clocking 2:08:13 with compatriot Albert Korir coming second.

In the female category, Joyciline Jepkosgei won in her debut over the full distance while Mary Keitany came second.

It was, however, a sad day for football lovers as Kenya’s Gor Mahia and Bandari FC were both eliminated from continental football. Kogallo went down 2-1 in Congo at the hands of DC Motema to crash out on a 3-2 aggregate score. The situation was no different for dockers Bandari FC back in Kenya as they lost 1-0 to Horoya AC of Guinea to eventually crash out on a 2-5 aggregate score.

From Kibra to New York, these are the stories making headlines on the Opera News App this Monday.
