The Ethic Rap crew is a group under siege following the release of their new song ‘Tarimbo’.

Some Netizens have complained that the song advocates for rape and this has forced the Kenya Film Classification Board’s (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua to call for their arrest.

Now, socialite and businesswoman, Huddah Monroe has accused the group of running away with her deposit money after she offered to work with them to create an empowerment song that would also promote her brand.

“I told these kids to sing a song appreciating women, their beauty and show how Huddah Cosmetics transforms a 1 to a 10, etc. The goons ran away with my deposit,” Miss Monroe claimed as she shared Ezekiel Mutua’s post.

Ezekiel’s Outburst Over Tarimbo

In a rant widely-shared on social media the KFCB CEO claimed that ‘Tarimbo’ advocated for the rape of women and asked Google to take down the song and urged the DCI to arrest the youthful group.

“I have spoken to Google to take down the damn crap called Tarimbo by Ethic Entertainment which advocates for the rape of women. Promoting violence against women is criminal.

The DCI should arrest the entire bunch of musicians called Ethic, under Article 33, for going beyond the prescribed delimitations on freedom of expression by advocating for violence against women.

When we banned Wamlambez people said we were killing creativity. I asked these nincompoops if they could shout Wamlambez before their mothers and they said they could. I was baffled.

These so-called musicians and performers have defied everything decent societies hold dear. They have thrown morality to the four winds in the name of money and popularity,” he raved.

He went on to describe the new wave of Gengetone artistes as ‘demented circus thugs’.
“My interpretation of Wamlambez and Tarimbo is that these are not artists. They are demented circus thugs hiding behind art to promote indecency. Any self-respecting DJ should not play these songs. No club should allow music that advocates for violence against women.

Unless decent people rise against the wave of immorality in Kenya, we are going to lose a generation in the name of creative freedom. No freedom is absolute. This time round we must draw the line!” Ezekiel declared.
