According to ODM, the released register did not have all the labeled details hence making verification exercise in the constituency very difficult.

On Monday, IEBC announced it had completed the verification of the register and had already dispatched the registers to various polling centers in the constituency

The notice dated October 25 and signed by Mr. Wafula Chebukati, chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, said revision of the voters’ register had been completed.

“Certifying that the revision of the Register of Voters has been completed for purposes of the by-election for Kibra Constituency scheduled to be held on 7th November 2019,” read part of the notice.

The electoral body had also announced the relocation of 26,788 voters registered in the 36 polling stations ahead of the November 7 By-election.

It revealed that Laini Saba has 17,455 voters, Lindi 16,688, Makina 25,695, Woodley/ Kenyatta Golf Course 28,066 and Sarangombe 30,754 bringing a total number of registered voters in the constituency to 118,658.

Earlier on, ODM had threatened to lead a mass demonstrations to the IEBC offices after the commission delayed to release the register.

ODM had complained that it needed to scrutinise the register early enough, so as to avoid scenarios where supporters are kept out from voting because of missing names.

On Sunday 28, ODM leaders led by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed had also threatened to march to Anniversary Towers, where the offices of the IEBC are if they do not get the list of all presiding officers and clerks in good time.
